Local charity The Myton Hospices is encouraging people to write or update their Wills in return for a donation, with support from specialist Will writing solicitors at local law firm Lodders.

The annual Make a Will Week fundraiser this year takes place from Monday 14 May to Friday 18 May 2018.

Solicitors in Lodders’ private client practice at its Stratford upon Avon offices are backing the scheme again this year, by donating their time and expertise to write straightforward Wills in return for a donation to the hospice.

Leading the fundraising Will-writing team this year is Lodders’ Vicki Gulliver, a Chartered Legal Executive in the firm’s Private Client department. She said:

“Lodders has a very long association with The Myton Hospices and we are delighted to be able to support them with the annual Make a Will Week fundraiser again this year.

“Myton and its amazing team do an incredible job, providing the very best care and support to residents and their families.

“Make a Will Week is not only an established and vital fundraiser for the hospice – which needs millions of pounds each year to continue to provide its excellent services at its hospices in Warwick, Coventry and Rugby – but is also a reminder of the importance to everyone of having an up to date Will.”

Vicki adds:

“Having your Will written professionally is important and can give great peace of mind. If you do not have a Will you cannot be sure that your loved ones are provided for after your death. You may also leave them the stress of coping with legal complications.

“However, according to research, a staggering 66% of the population in the UK do not have valid Wills in place.

“With a Will, you can ensure that your family and friends are taken care of. Without one, they may not be able to honour your wishes,”

Vicki explains.

“Wills deal with more than just assets; they cover important details such as who will care for your children and who will be the executor of your estate. By planning ahead, you can give yourself time to consider the implications of inheritance tax and how it can be minimised.

“Make a Will Week is the ideal opportunity to get your Will written or updated, whilst supporting our local hospice at the same time.”

Ellie Morgans, Legacy Fundraiser at Myton said:

“We can’t thank Lodders enough for all the support they have shown us over the years. By taking part in Make a Will Week they will help us to continue our work and be able to care for more people with terminal and life limiting illnesses, and their families, when they need us most.”
