Battens Solicitors has announced the appointment of five trainee solicitors and the qualification of four new solicitors.

Battens is already one of the most successful top 500 legal firms in the South West, and its latest announcement highlights its commitment to investing in and helping develop new talent.

Peter Livingstone, Training Principal, Solicitor and Director at Battens, said:

"We are extremely pleased with the quality of the applications we received this year. We have already begun working with our new trainees, moulding and developing their skills so that, in two years’ time, they emerge as skilled professional solicitors who can achieve great results for their clients."

Harry Bacon, graduate from the University of Exeter, is one of the five trainee solicitors to be hired by Battens. Joining him are Marie Smale, a graduate from Bristol University; Bethany Edmunds, who studied English and French Law at the University of Kent and gained her LPC from the University of Law in Exeter; David Ramsbottom, a Biological Sciences graduate who went on to take law at the University of Law in Birmingham; and Laura Cooke, who studied at the University of Surrey and took her LPC at Bristol.

Battens has also announced the qualification of four new solicitors who have been honing their expertise at the firm for the past two years. Jason Carr, Rebecca Lee, Rupert Edwards and Ralph Wheeler have all qualified, meaning they can now practise law professionally. Jason Carr will be working in Battens’ residential property team, Rebecca Lee will be in the property dispute resolution team, Rupert Edwards has joined Battens’ commercial team, and Ralph Wheeler has become part of the dispute resolution team.

"We place enormous emphasis on the training our staff receive,” explained Peter Livingstone, “and devote considerable time, effort and financial investment into our trainees. It's extremely important to Battens and our clients that the solicitors who qualify with us are as skilled and capable as possible. We are hugely proud of our newest solicitors who have qualified with us this month - they are all very different and add tremendous value to the teams they are now working with, as they continue to grow and develop in the future."
