A Shropshire law firm has taken gold again in its efforts to improve environmental performance.

The firm, which has offices across Shropshire, as well as Herefordshire and North Wales, has retained Green Achiever Gold Standard Award status and an additional Diamond Banner, issued by E4environment.

E4environment is a specialist in providing guidance on environmental issues in the areas of waste and renewable energy, and works on projects all over the UK.

Deborah Cairns, E4environment director, said:

“It was good to have the chance to review the sustainability performance of Lanyon Bowdler through these challenging times. It is always rewarding doing their review as the ambition to incrementally improve environmental performance is clear.

“The firm was granted a retained Gold Award with Diamond Banner status in recognition of: Legal compliance being maintained, the many examples of current good environmental practice, improvements made in the past 12 months, continuous improvement for at least the past five years and an ambition to improve further going forward.

“Even though 2020 has been extraordinary with the COVID pandemic, Lanyon Bowdler has continued on its path of achieving improvements in environmental performance by making long-term investments in building works and software packages which enable the team to work more efficiently and effectively for clients, whilst consuming fewer raw materials.

“The incremental improvements achieved by Lanyon Bowdler over time show excellent alignment of financial sense with sustainability goals.

“In recognition of the consistency in improvements having been made and a clear commitment for this to continue, the Gold Standard Award is retained.

“In recognition of 10 years of continuous improvement the team is also awarded the Diamond Banner Award.”

Lanyon Bowdler has opened new offices in Telford and Hereford over the past year, and special attention was paid to ensuring both were as energy-efficient as possible.

Rowland Waddington, operations manager at Lanyon Bowdler, said:

“We are proud of our continued investment in management systems, which as well as improving client service also enables environmental benefits such as reduced paper consumption, less storage requirements, less transporting needs and an overall reduction in waste.

“We are delighted to have retained our Gold award status and Diamond Banner Award in recognition of our efforts to cut our carbon footprint as much as we can.

“We are committed to exploring any opportunities which can help us achieve this goal and implement new strategies wherever possible to deliver on what we view as our environmental responsibilities.”
