Burger Theory Bristol, an independent burger business, will be opening its first location in the city on Friday after receiving a £74,500 funding package from NatWest.

The finest local produce

The business, founded and run by friends Rory Perriment, Oliver Thorogood and Nicolas Makin, has years of experience in supplying speciality cuisine to festivals and pop-up kitchens across the country.

Burger Theory sources the finest produce the South West has to offer: 100% British Red Tractor certified meat from farms close to Devizes; fresh bread from The Proper Bread Bakery in Bristol; and dairy products from Wiltshire’s Ashton Farms.

The business also offers a range of vegetarian and vegan burgers.

Friendly, relaxed atmosphere

Burger Theory operates a site at Kongs of Cardiff, where it has become a firm favourite in the city - pairing burgers, craft beers, and speciality desserts with old-school arcade games, table football and ping pong tables.

The new central Bristol location, on St Stephen’s Street, is set to open to the public on Friday 18 August and will have a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

The deal will provide funding to refurbish the existing premises, creating a minimum of eight new jobs initially.

‘Local is better’

Rory Perriment, Director of Burger Theory, said:

“This deal will allow the business to fulfil its dream of opening a location in Bristol whilst continuing our commitment to the philosophy that local is better.

The support and sector-specific knowledge that NatWest has been able to provide has been invaluable and I look forward to working with them as our business grows.”

NatWest Relationship Manager, Ian Dudley, said:

“We are confident that our funding will put Burger Theory in a strong position to offer real value to the local community and produce delicious, sustainably sourced food.”
