Tristan Chatfield joins as Account Director to support team’s work in Birmingham’s Golden Decade of Growth

BECG today announces the appointment of Tristan Chatfield, former Cabinet Member for Finance & Resources at Birmingham City Council, as Account Director at its Birmingham office.

Tristan joins the PRWeek UK Top 150 #1 Public Affairs communications consultancy as a senior political player with significant connections across Birmingham and detailed knowledge of the wider region. He will be working with the Birmingham team, led by Adam Farrell, to support the Second City’s political ambition to create a ‘Golden Decade of Growth’ – as the Commonwealth Games, HS2, the £1.9 billion Smithfield programme, Paradise, and the Digbeth development are all underway.

Tristan also previously held Cabinet responsibility for Social Inclusion, Community Safety and Equalities, as well as a number of committee appointments focussed on economic growth, investment, transport and employment. Prior to serving in Cabinet, Tristan worked in the office of Labour MP Khalid Mahmood promoting both his constituency priorities as well as those at a national level. He is also a former Board Director of Birmingham Airport and the IKON gallery.

BECG’s Head of North and Midlands, Kevin Whitmore commented:

“Tristan joining our team is hugely exciting. His many years of heavyweight responsibility for the region’s socio-economic growth, both in Local Government and in business, bolsters the value of the strategic counsel we offer to our clients. At BECG, we’re working with a range of developers who are looking to be a part of Birmingham’s growing success story, Tristan joins our team of impressive communicators to support this important work.”

Commenting on his appointment, Tristan said:

“As a market leader in communications across the built environment with exceptional political connections, unparalleled experience in communications and fast-growing team, it is an extremely exciting time to join BECG. I am looking forward to continuing to play my part in the growth of the city of Birmingham – from the other side of the table…!
