in Law and Accountancy, to help more adult learners to flexibly fit their studies around their life.

The blended learning courses combine the benefits of online and classroom-based study, so that more adults can go back to education and training without compromising their job or family commitments.

Walsall College have three courses beginning in the New Year: The Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice, the AAT Level 2 Foundation Award in Accounting Software and the Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping.

Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice

Starting in January, this part-time Level 3 course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), which represents more than 20,000 trainee and practicing Legal Executives.

The qualification is recognised by law firms across the country, who acknowledge the qualities and skills that CILEx qualifications bring to their teams. CILEx qualifications offer an affordable route into the legal profession without the need for university study.

The course is a short but rounded introduction to Law and Practice, and includes units on developing client care skills, as well as research skills.

Level 2 Accounting Courses

The College are also offering two AAT courses in Accounting, which can be studied separately or as a pair.

The six-week Level 2 Foundation Award in Accounting Software, which begins in February 2019, enables learners to develop specialist knowledge of being an Accountant Technician, including using software packages, entering accounting transactions and producing a range of reports.

This will be followed by the Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping, which is a 4-month course covering bookkeeping transactions and controls. Completion of this course would enable progression to the AAT Level 3 Advances Diploma in Accounting in September 2019.

These AAT qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare learners for work in accounting and finance roles, such as Clerical Assistant, Trainee Bookkeeper, Accounts Clerk, Finance Assistant and Accounts Administrator.

How Blended Learning Works

Established in 2015, Mindful Education specialises in producing media-rich professional courses and apprenticeships. Courses are delivered using a mixture of online lessons and classroom sessions in college – meaning that learners can choose how, when and where they want to study. This ‘best of both worlds’ approach has proved very popular with adult learners as the flexibility offered makes study a realistic option for people with busy lives.

Mark Mckenna, Managing Director of Mindful Education, said:

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Walsall College, who are an outstanding provider. Together we will be delivering professional courses that combine high quality content, academic expertise and bespoke learning environments to deliver an outstanding learning experience.”
