Millfield Lower Sixth pupil Jimmy Cheng has achieved a score in the top 1% of all candidates who took the US college admissions exam, the SAT, globally in the recent March SAT examination. Sixteen year old Jimmy achieved a score of 1510/1600, which is Millfield’s highest mark to date.

Jimmy, who is studying for four A levels in Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Economics, also helps underprivileged students from all over the world prepare for the SAT exam as part of the non-profit international educational service, Kara Tutoring.

Forty-two Millfield pupils took the March SAT, with nine pupils achieving scores in the top 10% of all candidates who took the SAT globally.

Millfield has a notable reputation for supporting pupils in applying to North American universities. The school is one of few SAT centres in the UK, which means that pupils do not need to leave the campus to take the SAT. The school also employs a designated Tutor in charge of applications to American Universities, as well as a Tutor in charge of the Millfield SAT Programme, and a Virginian Fellow (a recent graduate from the University of Virginia.)
