Heart of Worcestershire College’s (HoW College) Digital Marketing Apprenticeship Lecturer, Samantha Preece, becomes “Miss February” as her company, Millbrook Marketing, wins the Celebrating North Worcestershire Calendar 2020.

As well as teaching, Samantha is also the proud Founder and Director of Millbrook Marketing, a local agency specialising in marketing strategy, campaign planning, social media management and general marketing support.

A trained marketer, with a career spanning over 25 years, Samantha has held prominent senior commercial positions within well-known organisations such as Halfords and Gtech. Throughout her career she has managed successful celebrity licensing partnerships, sports sponsorship and negotiated a high profile TV sponsorship. In addition, she has developed a number of award-winning products and social media campaigns.

Talking about her decision to launch her own company, Samantha said:

“I started Millbrook Marketing last summer, so this is a relatively new venture for me. I am very much an ideas person and there is nothing more exciting than speaking to business owners about their plans for growth and working with them to create a marketing strategy that will help them achieve their goals.”

Samantha has been delivering the Digital Marketing Apprenticeship framework since September 2018, which consists of three modules, with a competency assessment at the end of each.

Talking about the framework, she commented:

“The syllabus is reviewed on an annual basis to ensure we’re delivering an up to date, practical qualification to our learners.

The framework gives students a fantastic overview of digital marketing, and explores how they can apply different tools and strategies to their own organisation. It also provides learners with the opportunity to gather a deeper understanding of various digital specialisms from SEO to PPC.”

Talking about the Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, Elizabeth Watts, Social Media and Digital Marketing Apprentice at Baxter College said:

“I find this course really interesting and it has enabled me to support my own independent projects. The tutor here is very knowledgeable and helpful with any queries I have about my course or the industry I work in.

I would recommend this course to any who is interested in the business sector and to those who have a creative flare. I believe that this is the best way to go if you do not like the idea of university but still want to gain qualifications and industry experience.”

Fellow student and Apprentice Digital Marketer at Multidrive Ltd, Jonathan Swann added:

“I enjoy the course because it has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of digital marketing and allowed me to apply that knowledge to a work based environment.

I like studying at HoW College because everyone is really friendly which made settling in a lot easier.”

HoW College offers a range of apprenticeships from Digital Marketing to Vehicle Maintenance. Moreover, it has a dedicated apprenticeships department, Solutions, who provide learners with support and guidance from the very start of their journey.
