More than 4000 apprenticeships on offer to the next generation of skilled professionals

Over 10,000 school visitors are expected to attendChoices, Manchester’s largest career event for young people from Wednesday 29 to Thursday 30 March.

More than 4000 apprenticeships will be on offer to the next generation of skilled professionals in the North West.

Students from the region will have the unique opportunity to interact with some of the nation’s largest organisations (Virgin Media, Siemens UK, ITV, Royal Air Force and British Army) at the many ‘Have a Go’ exhibition stands. Industry experts will be available to give students first-hand experience in a skilled profession, with the aim of kick-starting the careers of thousands of youngsters.

Choices exhibitor, Arlene Bulfin, from UKFastnet.com, said:

Events like Choices are fantastically important to ensuring the next generation are exposed to the world of work at a critical time in their educational development, while creating amazing opportunities for young people in the region”.

Pop-up TV studios and heavy vehicle maintenance demonstrations are among the many initiatives that aim to inspire Manchester’s ambitious young people.

The ‘Spotlight Stage’ will host several leading industry professionals that plan to divulge crucial career advice and motivate the next generation of skilled professionals.

The event will be the first in the country to highlight the need for home-grown skills after the UK government trigger Article 50, the first stage in the process for leaving Europe. As businesses strive to find new talent, Choices will offer exhibiting organisations the opportunity to talk directly to young people in the region that may be in line to be their next star apprentice.

The show, Choices, is one of the UK’s largest free to attend skills experience and The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) is supporting the two day event, aiming to inspire young learners at a key stage in their career development.
