Motherwell Cheshire is a local charity covering Crewe and Winsford. Founded in 2005, Motherwell has been supporting women and their mental health by providing counselling, groups, mentoring and volunteering. Motherwell is not stopping there! In 2019 funding was approved by BBC Children in Need to provide Counselling services for girls aged 14-19 years. Motherwell have named this The Inspire Project.

The Inspire Project aims to improve the lives of teenage girls by offering a safe space to discuss significant life events that may be impacting negatively on them today. The planned outcomes of the service are to help girls:

1. Feel more positive about themselves (improve self esteem)

2. Improve their relationships with family, friends, interests and educational settings

3. Feel more able to cope with their experiences

Kate Blakemore Motherwell Cheshire CIO quoted

“we are really pleased to have received funding for this role, the mental health of teenage girls is a growing problem and we are sure this project will fulfill our aims of “Encouraging, Inspiring and Empowering” the women and girls that we are supporting”

The Inspire Project hopes to expand upon the counselling service by setting up groups and provide mentoring. However, for this will need to raise more funds. The team at Motherwell are dedicated to the cause and their determination is enabling many women, and soon young women, to improve their overall wellbeing and feel empowered to achieve their goals.
