Local developers Barratt Homes West Midlands and David Wilson Homes Mercia have presented Acorns Children’s Hospice and Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity with a cheque for more than £40,000.
The two homebuilders, both of which are based in the Birmingham area and are building quality new homes across the West Midlands, raised a total of £20,309.30 as a result of a sportsman’s dinner in 2016. Both companies then donated an additional £10,000 each to the cause, meaning a grand total of £40,309.30.
Amanda Smallman, Corporate Partnerships Manager atAcorns Children’s Hospice said, “We’re so grateful to Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes for this significant donation and all the staff for their enthusiasm and commitment to the cause. We need to raise nearly £10 million every year to continue, so the money will make a massive difference for the children and families who rely on our care.”
Kirsty White,Corporate Partnerships Officer atBirmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are incredibly thankful to Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes for supporting our £3.65 million Star Appeal, which will build the UK’s first Rare Diseases Centre for children.
“This new centre will, for the first time, bring together a team of experts from all the different specialties across our hospital under one roof to provide coordinated care for our children and young people affected by rare diseases.
“Thanks to this fantastic donation we are now one step closer to making our patients’ and families’ dreams a reality.”

Barratt Homes West Midlands are currently building new homes at The Lyng in West Bromwich, Norton Farm in Bromsgrove and Oak Hill Mews in Wednesbury.
David Wilson Homes Mercia are building a selection of new homes to Dudley, at Baggeridge Village, and Wolverhampton, at Woodthorne, and will soon be launching new developments Gilbert’s Lea in Bromsgrove and Abbey Gate in Redditch.

Barratt Homes West Midlands and David Wilson Homes Mercia have both been awarded the maximum five star official rating from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for the seventh year in a row. The news was announced after more than 20,000 new home buyers across the country took part in last year’s HBF customer satisfaction survey.
