Two Tamworth businesses are going the ‘egg-stra’ mile to help local charities this Easter and are appealing for other firms and residents to get involved in the challenge.

Printing firm, Expand Digital Ltd and security firm Silver Security Ltd have set themselves the challenge of collecting 500 chocolate eggs and gifts for children and families who need a little extra cheer.

The two companies, based on Tame Valley Industrial Estate, have joined forces to launch the Easter appeal in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice, which provides care and support for children with life-limiting, or life-threatening illnesses and their families, Phoenix at St Giles Hospice supporting children and young people affected by bereavement and Creative Choices CIC, which supports people with learning difficulties.

They have already collected more than 200 chocolate eggs and gifts between them and are now hoping other residents and businesses will get involved to help reach the ambitious target.

Expand Digital and Silver Security will arrange collection and distribution, so it’s a simple case of throwing an extra egg or Easter gift into the trolley.

Kyle Raffo, managing director of Expand Digital said:

“This Easter, we wanted to give something back to the local community. Silver Security are based in the same building as us, so we decided to join forces and set ourselves a fundraising challenge. We wanted to help children and young adults who deserve an extra special treat or gift this Easter.

“We’ve spoken to the three charities to find out what they would benefit from and how many families they support and have worked out that we need to collect around 500 Easter eggs and gifts.

“We are already halfway there and are now putting the call out to see if anyone else is willing or able to help us reach the target. If we do really well and collect more than is needed by the three charities, any extra will go to the local Foodbank, so all donations will be put to good use helping local people.”

James Silver, of Silver Security Ltd, added:

“There are a lot of amazing organisations in and around Tamworth who carry out vital work in the community. We really wanted to help them and the families they support this Easter. If anyone has any donations, they can call or email us to arrange collection. We are hoping to donate the eggs and gifts before Easter Sunday, so would need to have all donations with us by April 18.”
