The chief executive of the world-famous City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) will be among the speakers at a major charity sector gathering in Birmingham next month.

Financial and professional services firm Smith & Williamson is holding its annual charity conference on Thursday, 5th March. The firm is a platinum sponsor of the CBSO, which is now in its centenary year and a registered charity itself.

The orchestra’s CEO Stephen Maddock, OBE, is among the speakers at this year’s event, which will be chaired by Adrian Taylor, partner, Smith & Williamson Investment Management – charities in the firm’s Birmingham office.

“The aim is to provide a forum for us to meet with trustees and managers to discuss and share opinion on the complex backdrop for charities,”

says Adrian Taylor.

“Last year was a year of important development surrounding environmental, social and governance issues, and the charity sector is leading from the front. We will take attendees through the evolving background to this and how we at Smith & Williamson Investment Management are playing our own important role.”

In addition, Daniel Casali, Smith & Williamson Investment Management’s chief investment strategist, will be looking back at 2019 and presenting his thoughts on the year ahead, including the Brexit trade negotiations, the US presidential election and the overall global economic outlook.

The Smith & Williamson charity conference is free to attend and takes place at Austin Court, 80 Cambridge Street, Birmingham, from 9am-1pm on 5th March. For further details contact vera.foster@smithandwilliamson.com
