Lymm Truckwash’s new site has proved a hit in the logistics industry with over 1000 new customers within the first three months and the company washing 1700 trucks within the first week of January alone.

The Cardwell family has been involved in truckwashing since 1967. Firstly, washing trucks on customers premises, then operating at Lymm Services for 20 years.

2018 saw the retirement of John (at the age of 78) & Anne Cardwell, and a new chapter in the business. Daughter, Laura, had the opportunity to design and construct a brand-new purpose built truckwash, just 30 seconds from the M6 and M56 motorways.

The new site has already welcomed over 1000 new customers and 34 new accounts since it opened in October, with names including; Manfreight, Monks Farm, Gwynedd Shipping, Frontier and Hendricks.

Laura Cardwell, Managing Director said:

“The feedback from all our customers has been so positive and everyone is really impressed with the site. Richard Burnett, Chief Executive of the Road Haulage Association (RHA) recently visited the site - he and the RHA are incredibly supportive. Roadway Live filmed on site on February 6th and will be aired soon.”

The company is exhibiting at the CV show at the NEC, Birmingham 28th to 30th April, stand 4A72. Laura comments:

“It’s really exciting to be at the CV Show as we have now created a new brand stand along with our new site. It will be a great opportunity to show this to the logistics industry.”

Laura adds:

“We’re incredibly passionate about supporting the local community - in the coming year we’re planning to join forces with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service for a road safety campaign.

“We’re also proud to now be supporting children’s charity CAFT (The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust) by washing their minibuses every week. CAFT provide a variety of free programmes for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West.”

The new facility also uses automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology, which saves drivers valuable time. Alternatively, they can choose to pay with a fuel or credit/debit card, cash or Snap at the HGV-height kiosk, which means there’s no need for drivers to get out of their cabs.

There are other plans afoot on the site, including HGV fuelling from Certas, parking and driver welfare facilities.

Laura comments:

“This heralds a new level of service in truck washing and we’re very happy to be at the forefront. There’s no other truck wash like this in the whole of Europe in terms of annual throughput and technology.”

Laura adds:

“The site is for the HGV driver, he is number one here, which is not often the case. In addition, the investment benefits the local economy and business community.”

Regular customer Bill French from transport company Turners of Soham, commented:

“Seeing this impressive facility makes me realise we should never take our truckwashing in house. It is a subsidiary industry to logistics and is best left to the professionals!”
