Jonathan Coyle from Newquay has been crowned the national winner a nationwide awards scheme which recognises the UK’s most sustainable heating engineers, after beating off stiff competition from other professionals from all over the country.

The Heating Installer Awards, now in its fifth year, recognises the achievements and raises the credibility of plumbers and heating installers across the country who deliver excellent customer service on a daily basis. This year, the awards introduced the Most Sustainable Installer category for those who are doing everything they can to minimise the impact of their work on the environment.

After tough competition from brilliant entries and a public vote, Jonathan was revealed as the first ever Most Sustainable Installer winner. The judges were particularly impressed with his commitment to not only installing carbon saving heating systems but the great lengths he goes to, to ensure his business has a limited impact on the environment. The Harvest Cornwall offices were built using sustainable, locally made materials and it is powered by solar panels and utilises recycled rainwater. The HQ for the business also has an electric vehicle charging port fitted for its electric vehicles and food prepared for the office is grown in its own organic vegetable patch. Jonathan and the team are also working with suppliers to reduce the amount of packaging used on products.

Jonathan Coyle, founder and managing director of Harvest Cornwall, said:

“It’s fantastic. We all feel extremely proud to be recognised for our sustainable efforts and it’s certainly been a welcome morale boost for the team at a time like this.

“We can’t quite believe it, there was some tough competition so we feel honoured to be picking up the title.

“It’s not about being perfect, just improving and working towards a more sustainable future and hopefully we serve as an example that it’s not impossible and doesn’t have to be expensive.

“If we can all make even the smallest change, our planet’s future will be stronger and more secure for it.”

The awards are supported by leading names from across the industry including Danfoss, Glow-worm, Polypipe, and Stelrad as well as professional body CIPHE and trade media partner Installer magazine.
