A Redditch-based school has recently hosted a local housing developer, who gave a talk to pupils on careers in construction.

Persimmon Homes South Midlands' Construction Director, Jak Harper, spoke to pupils at Birchensale Middle School about the opportunities available within the housebuilding industry.

The event helped to introduce the pupils to a selection of jobs, sharing experiences and stories with them. Jak's talk aimed to provide pupils with a realistic insight into different career paths; giving information which will, in time, help them to make informed decisions about their careers.

Jak Harper, Construction Director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said:

"What we do is about so much more than building quality homes; it's also about ensuring that we support the workforce of the future and create jobs in the communities we build in.

"It was great to deliver this talk to pupils at Birchensale Middle School to showcase the variety of career options available in housebuilding."

Persimmon Homes is proud to be an accredited Living Wage Foundation employer and directly employs more than 5,000 people and supports around 86,000 jobs in the construction sector.

Also committed to training schemes of the highest standard, Persimmon Homes has been recognised for its apprenticeship schemes, demonstrating the developer's success at training traditional site skills such as bricklaying and joinery, as well as its drive to grow talent throughout the business.
