Tenth annual Manchester cricket league bowls out with a bang

Professional services recruitment specialist Sellick Partnership brought their tenth annual Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League (MPCL) to a close on Friday 13 July 2018 at Timperley Cricket Club. The League, founded by Sellick Partnership’s Managing Director Jo Sellick in 2008 has gone from strength-to-strength and this year saw 25 prominent North West businesses compete. To date the League has raised in excess of £100,000 for St Ann’s Hospice and Lord’s Taverners.


The MPCL is a cricket league set up for the Manchester business community which over the past ten years has become a staple sporting event for many of Manchester’s biggest businesses. This year businesses from across Greater Manchester took part, including; EY, Deloitte, Together Money, RSM UK and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).


Over the past ten years over 50 businesses have competed in over 500 games of cricket at 15 pitches across Greater Manchester. This year a total of 50 games were played and all funds raised will once again be donated to St Ann’s Hospice and Lord’s Taverners.


Jo Sellick commented;

“this year marks 10 years since I set up the MPCL. First and foremost my aims were to promote my love of cricket and raise funds for two causes very close to my heart. Today it has grown to become one of Manchester’s most anticipated networking events, with some of the region’s biggest names taking part.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every business that has supported the MPCL over the years. I am excited to find out how much we will be adding to the total amount raised later in the year at our MPCL Charity Awards Lunch. Additionally I would like to congratulate all of the teams that took part this year, and especially Cup winners EY and Plate winners Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). Each of you played with passion and ambition and have made this our best year yet.”


The final amount raised during this year’s tournament will be announced at the annual MPCL Charity Awards Lunch, held at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester on Friday 19 October 2018.
