The overwhelming support of HomeServe People for an inspirational charity helping the homeless in towns and cities across the Midlands continues to go from strength to strength one year on!

The partnership between the Walsall-based home assistance provider and the Midland Langar Seva Society (MLSS) celebrates its 1st birthday this week, having helped provide over a staggering 8,300 hot meals.

From a chance conversation between HomeServe call centre worker Bhupinder “Pops” Heer and Chief Marketing Officer Greg Reed, HomeServe People have also helped prepare 6,900 goody bags which are given out at the open kitchens, the purchasing of 7,800 samosas for evening feeds, volunteered 700 hours to help serve the food to the homeless, donated a van and selected MLSS for its Christmas Charity campaign.

The MLSS helps “all and everyone” in need of food across Walsall, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry and Leicester and Pops admitted he can’t believe what has been achieved in such a short space of time.

Pops said: “I can honestly say that I’ve been blown away with the way the people here at HomeServe have got behind MLSS. I am inundated with offers of support on a daily basis not only here in Walsall but also from our offices in Banbury, Preston and Nottingham as well as from our engineers right across the UK.

“It has been a truly humbling experience over the last 12 months and makes me really proud to work alongside so many amazing people here at HomeServe.

“To see first-hand the incredible difference that Midland Langar Seva Society makes to so many People’s lives is fantastic and the support from HomeServe has been an invaluable part of that.”

Greg, along with Directors from across the business, were also on hand to support the MLSS feed with pizza and cake to celebrate the partnership’s 1st birthday.

Greg Reed, Chief Marketing Officer, HomeServe, said: “The People I have the pleasure of working with here at HomeServe never fail to amaze me – we are passionate supporters of our local communities and our People have taken Midland Langar Seva Society to their hearts in the same way we do for our Customers.

“It really is incredible to be part of an organisation where there is a real drive to help others and it is a real credit to the culture we have all created here.

“Having been out with the MLSS volunteers on numerous occasions it really makes you appreciate how the smallest of gestures can make such a massive difference.”
