UK law firm TLT has recruited top regulatory lawyer Amanda Hulme to lead the firm's financial services regulation team, placing TLT at the cutting edge of financial services regulatory advice in the UK.
Due to start from 1 April 2024, Amanda will be leading a team of highly experienced lawyers working across TLT's offices, enhancing the practice's UK-wide offering.
The appointment cements TLT's position as an expert adviser to the financial services sector, underlining the firm's strategic focus on meeting the current and future needs of clients.
Amanda will be leaving her role at Addleshaw Goddard where she was head of financial regulation for 18 years. Amanda also formerly practised as a barrister with Fred Philpott's Chambers and spent two and half years as a senior legal advisor at the Office of Fair Trading, advising on consumer law and consumer credit.
Amanda is one of the UK's go-to financial services regulatory lawyers particularly known for providing top-tier legal advice in consumer finance, retail banking, payment services and FinTech regulation. Her experience has seen her work with some of the top financial institutions on their innovation projects and implementation of regulatory requirements, including consumer credit reform, payment services regulation, open banking implementation and access to cash. She has also worked on large scale transactions for some of the UK's biggest banks.
Amanda has been ranked in Chambers and Partners for more than 20 years in Tier 1 for Consumer Finance advice and she is currently recognised as: "a really commercial and knowledgeable payments lawyer with a deep understanding of the regulations and the context behind them." She is also ranked as one of the best in the UK in the current edition of ‘Chambers' Client Guide of the UK Legal Profession'.
At TLT, Amanda will lead the financial regulation team adding top tier regulatory expertise to TLT's already strong client offering to over 600 clients in the financial services sector. Amanda's unrivalled market-insight and solutions-focused approach to advising the industry will complement the existing reputation TLT has for its understanding of the financial service market and its client focused approach.
Working closely with TLT's head of banking, Amanda will provide strategic and innovative legal guidance to TLT's key financial services clients including major financial institutions and most of the UK's largest global commercial and retail banks.
Amanda is the fourth accomplished financial services lawyer to join TLT in the last twelve months expanding its national footprint and tightening the firm's stronghold on the sector. Also appointed recently were financial services litigator Roger Potgeiter, economic crime compliance specialist Ben Cooper and data privacy specialist Chris Elwell-Sutton.
