Leicestershire Law Society (LLS) has about 500 members who are solicitors practicing in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland, and was founded to promote Leicester as a centre of legal excellence.

The society holds an annual award ceremony to celebrate outstanding members of the profession in the region, and to recognise excellence and approach in the chosen field, and the competition was very stiff indeed.

There was some excitement when the shortlist was announced at a drinks reception held at the Mercure Grand Hotel on 9th March, crowned with a glittering conclusion at the Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony held at the Platinum Suite, Leicester on 13th May 2016.

2 new Street Chambers was thrilled when their own Sally Barnett, Head of Chambers, was awarded Barrister of the Year in a category sponsored by Moosa Duke Solicitors. On receiving the award, Sally Barnett, said “I am very proud to have received this award not only for myself but for everyone else in chambers.

“I hope one of my strengths is to strive to find a reasonable resolution rather than prolonged conflict. There should be life after litigation”.
