Institute of Export hosts South West World Trade Summit

The IOE is hosting an inaugural Word Trade Summit on October 5thin Taunton aimed at businesses in the South West who are working in international trade.

Entitled ‘The Commonwealth & Beyond’, the Summit which runs from 2pm-7pm at the Castle Hotel in Taunton will examine the issues and opportunities in accessing new markets - and the debate will help to shape the future of international trade.

In an ever changing business environment, the Institute is working to raise the skills of those involved in international trade by engagingwith business and government toexplore some of the opportunities that are availableto South West business. The event focuses on ‘Where next?’ and will define the routes to new markets and relevant technological advances to improve and enhance trading relationships.

Heldin partnership with Plymouth University, the Summit comprises a powerful line-up of local, national and international thought leadership export specialists and experts from organisations including East Devon ethical IT business, Cosmic, the China Britain Business Council andThe Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe.

Event speakers include Jonah Anthony,director at the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council who will present ‘A New World of Opportunity’. Business strategist John Rubidge -currently working with the Department for International Trade South West on a project to boost international trade development to help UK-based SMEs to succeed inglobal markets - will focus on ‘Exploring Global Growth Opportunities’.

The Summit also includesaformative debate, ‘South West: Investing in an International Future’ in which Tim Jones, the chairman of Devon & Cornwall Council will pay a formative role.

Bringing together a wealth of thought leadership, topicsdiscussed also include ‘Big Bang or Smooth Sailing’‘A European Point of View’,and‘Trading with China’.
